The Benefits of Positive Affirmations
Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are phrases that you can repeat to yourself, which describe who you want to be or a particular outcome.
Initially, these affirmations may not be true but if we consistently repeat them, it is said our subconscious mind will start to believe them.
There are numerous self-help/self-development books available which talk more in-depth about this theory. I recently had the chance to go on one of Sue Stone’s Positive workshops. I’d already read one of her books Love Life, Live Life and have since read her recent one The Power Within You Now. She goes into great details about the effects of positive thinking, using affirmations and creating the life we want!
Another person I greatly admired was Louise Hay. I started reading her books years ago and it’s good to re-visit them. One particular one to check out is I can do it How to Use Affirmations to Change Your Life.
I must admit unless we put these practices into action we can easily slip back into our old ways and become negative and disillusioned. Events happen in our lives which can set us back, knock our confidence and encompass our self-destructive thoughts.
I know even after doing lots of self-healing work on myself it can take one negative comment or rebuff from an outsider that can sow those seeds of self-doubt again. (especially if you are an empath like lots of us are!)
‘I Am’ Journals
Because of this, I’ve created some little ‘I Am’ affirmation journals (available on Amazon). They can be used daily or when we feel we are going through a negative phrase in our lives. It may not even be you, sometimes our kids can feel bad about themselves. It could be peer pressure or social media influences. By keeping a journal of their own it can help to build up those ‘feel good’ vibes about themselves.
How Often Do I Need To Repeat Affirmations
It is said they should be repeated at least once every day but for no more than three times a day. Spend at least 5 minutes repeating affirmations but no more than 15 minutes per session, as there is no added benefit.
Then keep doing it until you feel you have achieved your said goal.
Why not try keeping a journal & see how it goes for you?
